What great food in such a small restaurant!
Last night marked my second visit to Westville with Yilin. We had been once before, strolling by looking for a place to eat. Yilin had heard good things about it and there were open seats so we just walked in after briefly perusing the menu. This time we fully intended to dine here.
I had the sausage with chili and mixed green salad, while Yilin had the whole brook trout with mixed greens and a side of broccoli rabe. While I wasn't a big fan of the sausage (it was ok), the chili was great. A bit spicy yet not overbearing, it had plenty of meat and beans. The trout was once again fantastic (we tried it on our first visit). The fish still moist inside and the skin delicately crunchy.
Entrees tend to be $10-18 and beers about $5 (I tried the new Sam Adam's Octoberfest; pretty good but too malty for my taste). The bathroom is reached by walking through the tiny kitchen, so enjoy the ride! It hasn't been very crowded either time we went, but we dined a bit early by New York City standards, perhaps.
